    * what makes you feel alive?

doing things. exploring new places. learning new crafts.

    * what is your definition of selling out?

sacrificing personal goals to work on other peoples goals because it is easier than saying no

    * how do you want to change the world?

if i decide I want to change the world in some way then it would mean i would need to work on that. hence i’ve decided to work on stuff that is important but not try to change the world.

changing the world seems to be a marketing/education issue. whereas creating things that can be used is an engineering/creative issue. there is certainly overlap, but i think it might be more effective to try to create things of value and then see if it can help the world rather than trying to say ‘let us fix x’ where x isn’t one of the major problems of the world

which is just a long way of saying i’ve not thought about it this way. i’ve thought about doing things that create value, but even that changes every day

i always think it’s cool to see how people interpret that third question. i think a lot of scientists/developers have that perspective; ie that it’s more important to create useful ingredients than try to design the recipe or outcome, if that makes sense. seem like an intuitive appreciation of the non-linear nature of progress.
